Similarly for fixing Gulika in night birth, we take Ratrimanna i.e. the nocturnal period and divide in equal eight parts. Here the eighth part too belong to Saturn and is called Gulika. However, the usage method of finding out the Gulika is based on a day and night of 30 ghatis = 12 hours each. Rising time for Gulika during the day for seven days for Sunday to Saturday is at 26, 22, 18, 14, 10, 6 and 2 ghatis from the time of sunrise. For night, the order from Sunday onwards is 10, 6, 2, 22, 18, and 14 ghatis from sunset.

Rishi Parasara in the following sloka has described the commencement of Gulika as follows:

गुलिकारम्भ काले यत्स्फुटं तज्जन्मकालिकम्।

गुलिकं प्रोच्यते तस्माज्जातकस्य फलं

वदेत्।।

Here the cusp of the sign rising at the beginning of the Gulika segment is considered as Gulika.

Stress is caused by tension, worry, fear, anxiety, anger, sorrow, and lack of satisfaction etc, medically it is defined as a body specific response to all non-specific demands. The person physique is disturbed psychologically. There is close linkage between the mind and body. While one cannot avoid stress stemming from several adverse situations in life, but its impact on the life is neutralized through judicious stress management. IMPLICATIONS OF STRESS AND TENSION

Some of the important diseases arising out of defective nervous system, tension stress and depression are as follows. Astrological factors/combinations indicative of these maladies or as seen in the birth chart are important to study. Astrologers are not expected to administer medicine or treatment but observations from various charts can help in timely diagnosis of the ailment.

SLEEPLESSNESS: First symptoms of stress and tension are seen in this form. This disease affects the whole nervous system known as karma indiris and gyan indiris. Sleeplessness disturb the native mentally, leading to fatigue and exhaustion. This disturb the daily routine of the native. Some of the important combinations to locate this disease are as follows:

i) There is aspect of debilitated sun on similar Saturn in lagna;
ii) Sun or moon in lagna afflicted by Saturn or mars;
iii) 7th house to lagna normally rise after sunset to sunrise and thus any affliction to these houses results in disturbance in normal sleep.
iv) Saturn-Rahu affliction is worst in these houses.

DEPRESSION: This mental situation generates in mind after many failures. Person loses all his faculties to look forward. Fourth house is house of comforts in life. Its signifactor is moon. Thus heavy affliction to fourth house, moon by malefic results in this type of mental disorder.

UPAYAS TO RELEASE MENTAL STRESS/TENSION

1. Study the fifth and ninth houses in the birth chart as to ascertain what the karmas indicate.

5. Under extreme tension recite shree sukta and purasha sukta.

Classical Vedic astrology uses the seven visible planets; the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn, along with the two lunar nodes, the north and south nodes, Rahu and Ketu.

The effects of the distant planets are crucial. Many of their effects can be abserved through the functioning of the lunar nodes. Yet though Vedic astrology uses seven planets it requires more calculations than a regular western astrological chart as it goes into much more detail in regard to the location and strength of the planets. Vedic astrology divide the zodiac in the twelve signs and twelve houses with planetary aspects, much like western astrology but with some differences, particularly in regard to the aspects.

Vedic Astrology: An Ancient Knowledge of Behavior and `Management Time from India

The oldest and most important indian scriptures, if not the world, are called the Vedas, a Sanskrit word meaning "knowledge". The Vedas are called "apaursheya" or beyond the realm of man and time. According to the tenets of philosophy, the Vedas were not authored but documented by seers or ancient wisemen called "rishis", who with there visionary powers, cognized the mechanics of creation. Vedic Astrology comes from this ancient work (hence the use of the word Vedic). Jyotisha or Jyotish is the actual Sanskrit name for Astrology and means the "eye or light of nature". The Fundamentals of Vedic Astrology

The fundamentals of Vedic Astrology were framed by ancient philosophers and blessed by by Brahma, the creator. This knowledge was then passed down to various Rishis and to man. Vedic Astrology, in its current form, is thought to have been written several thousand years ago by Maharishi Parashara, although, concepts of repeating time cycles could have even have existed several thousand years prior to that in oral form. Parashara's book, "Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra" is the classic on Vedic Astrology and most scholars study Parashara today as the father of Vedic Astrology.
